The Performance tab displays "Excellent!" in green. Speed 93, Accessibility 90, Google Visibility 100, Overall Quality 96.
If you stop there, everything is fine.
Except that on the side: visits down 42%, unique visitors down 33.7%, average time per visit down 64.8%, and an active alert for a 35% drop in traffic. Traffic growth rated 0 out of 30, “needs improvement.”
Both pieces of information are true. And neither replaces the other.
Two analyses that don’t align
On an analytics dashboard, two sets of metrics coexist at all times—and they answer fundamentally different questions.
The first answers: “Is my site technically sound?” Page load speed, accessibility, Google visibility. This is technical health.
The second addresses: “Is anyone visiting my site?” Visits, unique visitors, traffic growth. This is acquisition health.
An excellent score on the first metric says absolutely nothing about the second. A site can be technically flawless and still experience a significant drop in traffic at the same time. That’s exactly what’s happening here.
The trap of the first green badge
This is the classic trap for founders who look at their analytics: seeing a positive metric, feeling reassured, and moving on to something else.
Technically, this site has never been better. Google can index it perfectly, it loads quickly, and it’s accessible. But from a business perspective, it’s experiencing a real decline that the technical metrics don’t detect—and can’t detect—because that’s not their purpose.
Relying on the wrong metric means completely missing the problem that’s costing you.
What You Need to Check Systematically
Never settle for the first green badge you see on your dashboard. Always check both sets of metrics separately: the site’s technical health and the health of your acquisition.
One may be perfect while the other is falling apart. And it’s precisely in this gap that the most important decisions lie.
